Morning, I’m back.
I don't know if you followed the story that vaporized millions of dollars on the stock market. If you've been living in a cave for the last few days, I'll keep it short:
Chinese team releases AI
As good as GPT
Less expensive to run
GPT needed billions. This AI was developed with just a few million. The icing on the cake: it's open source.
This is news that can be read on several levels. But the one we're interested in isn't industrial warfare... because we're writers.
What does the future of the writer look like, in a fully assisted world?
Autonomous AIs are being developed. Genesis of Iron Man's Jarvis that will become our assistants. They'll be able to perform insanely complex operations. For most of the things that can cross your mind.
Like Prometheus bringing fire. These AIs will bring access to intelligence to the masses. Our new paradigm of equality will be a world where everyone has access to supra-intelligent terminals. The best timeline for… writers to shine.
Many people lose the plot by thinking only of the writing part. And they're partly right, because the future of writing is going to be strange. Many writers are already using AI to write novels (sacrilege) and it's going to be harder and harder to tell the difference in a few years' time. But that's a limited view of what makes a writer creatively powerful.
A writer isn't just a typewriter. He's an inventor of stories, worlds, dreams... in all kinds of media. And these new tools could well be exactly what he needs to be able to distribute his stories on many different media.
His creative power would become his unfair advantage. He'll be able to create stories, but also... all sorts of things that only his unique brain is capable of creating.
What do you practice every time you sit down in front of your writing table, continuously, for years?
Your imagination.
Your creativity.
And what difference will it make to all those who have access to this superintelligence?
Everything.
One thing to be smart. Quite another to know how to use it. Creativity was already rare. It's about to become even rarer. Because creativity is a talent that can't be stolen or magically learned.
Creativity is your whole life story, connecting all the ideas you know that help generate ideas day after day. Creativity is something you've worked on every time you've tried to be creative... to learn... to train for an activity that requires vision. Creativity is the language of your soul.
You who've spent years training your minds, they're now going to give you super-powered tools that your over-trained minds will be able to use far more effectively than the average person who's been massively dumbed down for years.
The future will belong to creative people. And writers are some of the greatest creative minds in the world.
We're going to give tools capable of performing complex tasks to minds capable of imagining the wildest worlds, all while just sitting with pen and paper in front of a PC.
To all the writers who say to themselves: writing is so hard. You're right, it is. Writing is hard. But soon, it's going to pay off big time to have trained your mind to be creative.
And if you want to keep training him, that's easy. I say it like a parrot every week. Read more... a lot. Because it constantly creates new neural connections to new ideas.
Who would have thought that the daily routine of the man who will earn the living of the future would be:
exercise
sleep well
eat good food
read
sunbathing
walk
All this to generate the greatest ideas on a daily basis.
That skill you've been developing for years, with a lot of effort, is now inside you. And it’s gonna be the skill that’s gonna change everything for you.
My next posts will focus on this theme.
How to train your genius.
How to become more creative.
How to get closer to your zone of genius.
How to work your brain to keep growing.
After passing on almost everything I know about writing. Now it's time to unpack everything I know about creativity.
See you soon.
